What you buy

A book, an audiobook or a single chapter of an audiobook from our editions. It is yours to read and listen to, for your own enjoyment, in the Read Classics app, on all your devices.

The original stories are classics that belong to everyone. Our editions (introductions, notes, paintings and narration) are ours: please don't copy or share the files.

Prices and payment

You see the price before you buy, in your own currency where we can. Payment is handled by Stripe, which sells on our behalf as the seller of record: it takes your card, adds the right VAT or sales tax for where you live, and emails your receipt. We never see your card.

Your 14-day right to cancel

If you live in the EU or the UK, you normally have 14 days to change your mind. For books and recordings you can download, that right ends once you start: at checkout you ask for access straight away and confirm that you understand this.

Bought something by mistake and haven't opened it yet? Email us within 14 days and we'll refund you in full.

If something isn't right

If a book or recording doesn't work properly and we can't fix it, we refund you. Write to us and we'll sort it out.

Keeping your books

What you buy stays in My Books for as long as you keep your account, and you can download it again whenever you like. Files already on your devices stay there. If we ever had to close the shop, we would tell you well in advance so you can download everything you bought.

Gifts and invitations

Books given with an invitation are free. They have no cash value and can't be exchanged for money.

Our responsibility

We take care to make every edition right. Nothing in these terms takes away the rights consumer law gives you where you live.
